| PRESS RELEASE - 4/8/2010 Fundraiser
for The Oasis! We hope that you will join us for an educational reception hosted by Ilsa Ananda Door of Creatrix Laboratories. Following the reception you may mingle and dance the night away to fine local artists for the ear, eye and heart! This fundraiser is a collaboration of Creatrix Laboratories & the Return of Free Water Project, Touch Samadhi, and The Garage at Biltmore. The Return of Free Water Project (RoFW) is an interactive, collaborative multimedia installation exploring issues surrounding the commodification of our world's water supply. The intention of the RoFW project is to help people realize that they have the power to make a difference in our world’s water crisis by transforming their own relationship with water. The project has multiple phases, the first of which is THE OASIS. The Oasis is a grove of trees, made from soda and water bottles, and other detritus from the water industry (PVC, etc.), lit up and linked together to transform gray water into pure, clean water that you can drink. The first tree (shown in the attached photographs) is complete and on display now at The Garage. The tree is lit from UV LEDs, and when the installation is complete will house a UV water filter, which kills the harmful biological microbes found in standing water that make it unsafe to drink. Each tree sculpture in the series has a function in the process of creating clean drinking water (see attached plans). During the fundraiser, Creatrix will be assembling the next tree in the series in an interactive, live sculptural exhibit. Additionally, The Garage is pleased to announce that in collaboration with the Return of Free Water project, it will soon cease water sales in favor of giving patrons free, filtered drinking water. A permanent installation by Creatrix Laboratories will house the water filter. Proceeds from the event will go towards materials for The Oasis, and towards materials for the permanent filtration installation at The Garage. Schedule: 7p
